TED GALL

Gall studied sculpture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the American Academy of Art. He began his career in the mid-1960’s as an animator for teaching films and worked as a package and graphic designer. In 1973, he began a 22 year association with Fel-Pro, Inc. which manufactured automotive gaskets. He was responsible for much of the firm’s graphic design, corporate awards, and product sculpture.

Working with metals early in his career, Gall continues his primary focus of presenting the human form in thought provoking situations. At the core of his creativity is the apt insight into the human condition and a wry observation of political trends. His works are inventively interactive with components that allow for the figure to change stance or suggest motion. His series of bronze heads are complexly articulated with layers that literally open to reveal new elements expanding the sculpture’s theme. Gall’s sculpture encourages peeling back strata to reveal truths, hypocrisies, and primal instincts. Through masks or hinged layers his art explores humanity’s multiple personas and evolutionary opportunities.

While a concept may be repeated many times each sculpture is unique.
