JOHN FRASER

John Fraser was born in April 1938 in Vancouver, Canada. In 1958 he attended the Regent Street Polytechnic in London. In 1961 he had his first solo show in the Teddy Hall- Cambridge and St. Mary’s in Oxford, England. In 1963 he started working around the theme of Vancouver architecture using printmaking techniques on murals and doors, and continued this exploration for seven years. While living in his native Vancouver he was greatly influenced by the city’s architecture and landscape. At a later date Fraser established his residence in Venezuela and his arrival was received with the honorable mention in the XXXVI Salon de Arturo Michelena in Valencia, Venezuela. Fraser’s work is greatly admired and recognized as one of the most important trans-cultural manifestations within Venezuela’s art world. Fraser’s trajectory through Europe, North and South America creates a very interesting mixture which results in a magic realism of superb richness.
